Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is one of the most popular talk therapies for depression. Originally developed by Dr. Aaron Beck, CBT is one of the fastest growing therapies, possibly due to it's use in brief therapies and depression being such a common diagnosis.

An example of CBT is the workbook Mind Over Mood by Greenberg & Padesky.

Another example is the Feeling Good series of books by Dr. David Burns.

The approach involves dealing with cognitive distortions that make people sad.
